Tippi Hedren and Sean Connery star in this late Hitchcock psychological drama. A cool, calculated professional woman embezzles from her employer then relocates to some distant town where she repeats her crimes under an assumed identity. One of her male victims tries to help her resolve her behavior. But their relationship evolves to something deeper and more complex as Hitchcock’s film refuses to conform to genre expectations. See this film version in advance of Nico Muhly’s new adaptation commissioned by the Metropolitan Opera, the suite from which will be premiered by the Philadelphia Orchestra this fall.
